Leaking Taps & Fixtures

A dripping tap is the job most people put off for a year. It is also one of the quickest and cheapest things a plumber will ever do for you.

Taps

Most drips are a worn washer or a failed ceramic cartridge, and both are a short job. Mixer taps and monobloc taps take different cartridges and we carry the common ones. If a tap is corroded to the point where it will not come apart we will tell you before we start whether replacing it makes more sense.

Showers and fixtures

Leaking shower valves, dripping bath fillers, weeping isolation valves, seeping waste traps under sinks. All the same category of job and all worth doing before the water finds its way into something that costs real money.

Bathroom and kitchen fittings

We also fit new taps, showers, sinks and waste kits. If you have bought fittings yourself we will install them, and we will tell you beforehand if what you have bought will not work with your water pressure. That is a common problem in Sligo houses on gravity-fed systems.

Why bother

A tap dripping once a second wastes several thousand litres a year. More to the point, a slow leak under a sink will destroy a kitchen unit quietly over a winter.
