Flooding & Water Damage

When water is coming into your home the first hour decides how much damage you are left with. Getting the flow stopped matters more than anything else at that point.

First thing to do

Turn off the water at the stopcock if you can get to it safely. It is usually under the kitchen sink or outside near the boundary. If there is any chance water has reached electrics, leave the power off and stay out of the room.

Then ring us. We will talk you through anything else while we are on the way.

What we do on arrival

We stop the source, then get the standing water out. After that we find what failed and repair it properly, whether that is a split pipe, a failed cylinder, an overflowing tank in the attic, or a drain that has backed up.

We will also point out what needs drying and where damage is likely to show up later, so you have it for your insurance.

Attic tanks

A lot of the worst flooding we see in Sligo homes starts with an attic water tank. Old ball valves stick, tanks crack, and nobody looks at them from one decade to the next. If yours has never been checked, it is worth doing before it fails.
