Burst & Leaking Pipes
A burst pipe empties water into your home faster than most people expect. A mains pipe can put out enough water in an hour to bring down a ceiling. If you are standing in it right now, turn off the stopcock first and ring us second.
What we do when we arrive
We find the break, isolate it, and stop the water. Most burst pipes in Sligo homes are copper joints that have failed at a solder point, or plastic pipe that has split after a cold snap. Once the water is off we cut back to sound pipe and make a permanent repair rather than a clamp that fails again in six months.
If the pipe is buried in a wall or under a floor we trace it before we open anything up. That usually means less damage to make good afterwards.
Why pipes burst in Sligo houses
Older houses around Sligo Town and the county have a lot of original copper and lead-jointed pipework. Cold weather is the common trigger, but pressure surges and simple age account for plenty of it too. Houses that sit empty over winter are the worst affected, holiday homes around Strandhill and Rosses Point in particular.
Getting to you
We cover Sligo Town, Strandhill, Rosses Point, Collooney, Ballysadare, Ballymote, Tubbercurry, Grange, Enniscrone and Coolaney. In town we are usually with you inside the hour. Further out it takes longer, and we will tell you honestly how long when you ring.
We are available 24 hours a day, all year. Burst pipes do not wait for office hours and neither do we.
