Blocked Drains & Toilets

A blocked drain is unpleasant and it gets worse the longer it sits. Waste backing up into a shower tray or a downstairs toilet overflowing is not something to leave until Monday.

How we clear it

We start by working out where the blockage actually is. A slow single sink is a different job from a full drain run backing up across the house. We use rods and jetting equipment depending on what is in there and how far down it sits.

Once it is clear we check that it runs properly and look at why it blocked in the first place. Clearing the same drain every three months is not a fix.

What causes most blockages

Fat and grease down kitchen sinks is the biggest one. Wet wipes are the second, and they do not break down no matter what the packet says. Older properties around Sligo often have clay drainage with root intrusion, and that will keep blocking until the section is dealt with properly.

Outside drains fill with silt and leaves, especially through the autumn.
